Henry Ford once said, "Can't will get nothing done. If you think you can, you're right. If you think you can't, you're right. No doubt about it, if you think you can't do something-you are right!" It all comes down to attitude.
Attitude includes thoughts and feelings that one has about the object of the attitude. It also includes the person's intention to behave towards the object of the attitude in a certain way. I truly believe that attitude does indeed determine a person's success or failure.
Firstly, having and optimistic outlook is a must if you want to succeed. Attitude creates the way we feel and act, which in return, creates a reaction from others. What we think and how we feel determine what we will get. There are even times when people with terminal illness recover because they have positive thoughts. Their attitude towards their illness is to beat it and they do! If we incorporate a positive attitude, we will have positive results. Conversely, if we have a bad, negative attitude, we will fail before we even begin.
Secondly, while having the right connection is important, the formula for success is in the right kind of attitude. It can lift you up, or it can tear you down. Nothing will stand in the way of someone with a positive attitude, and nothing will stand in the way of a person with a negative attitude either. Often it is optimistic attitude that has led many people toward greatness while negativity has dragged mankind to the valley of defeat. Businessmen have been known to succeed just because of a positive attitude.
Thirdly, while it is true that some people are born with the ability to succeed, this only means that they are capable of doing something very well but it is only attitude that determines how well they tackle the task. For example, sometimes children are not doing well in school and parents get all worried and uptight. They think that their child does not have the ability to study and will be a failure in the future. However, most times, it is not the matter about ability but rather about attitude. The child is not motivated to study and takes little pride in his school work. Hence, we can see that although the child may have the ability to succeed, if he does not have the right attitude towards studying, he may turn out to be a failure.
In conclusion, attitude is all in the state of mind. If we think we will lose, we will and if we think we'll win, we will. It all begins with a person's will. The smartest or stronger person is not always the winner. The winner is the person who believes in himself and knows that he can win. Donald Trump from The Apprentice said, "Positive attitude is all bout self confidence, and self confidence is a whole ballgame. If you don't have a positive attitude in business or in love, you'll never ever be successful."
